A month long celebrations for Ulaganayagan Kamal Aimbathu – oru thodarum sarithiram reached a crescendo this Monday, September 28, 2009 at Nehru Indoor Stadium. Kamal Haasan – the name itself symbolizes commitment, dedication, creativity and much more.! The hero of the show Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan was visibly touched and moved as the entire film industry paid tribute to him. Vijay TV had organized for a month long celebration for Ulaganayagan which culminated with this grand event attended by the glitterati of South Indian Cinema.
It was a night of true emotions. Seated beside each other, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan & Super Star Rajinikanth were seen reminiscing their earlier days in the industry. Also sharing this prestigious moment with the Ulaganayagan were ‘Iyakunar Sigaram’ K Balachander, ‘Isai Gnyani’ Ilayaraja and ‘Isai Puyal’ AR Rahman. Stalwarts of South Indian film industry Mohanlal, Mamooty, Venkatesh and Sarath Kumar celebrated this glorious moment with Ulaganayagan.

The show witnessed celebrity emcees like Madhavan, Jeyram, Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Arjun and Radhika who took upon this honor to introduce the many contemporaries who have worked with the living legend.
It was a truly a moment to behold, when actor Radhika invited Dr. Kamal Haasan to join 12 of his heroines on one stage. Actor Radhika having said that “he wouldn’t have got the title of Kadhal Mannan if not for his heroines” called the heroines Jaichitra, Revathy, Gauthami, Shobana, Tabu, Lizzy Priyadarshan, Nirosha, Saranya, Meena, Oorvasi and Rohini on stage.
Film personalities like AVM Saravanan, Saroja Devi, Prabhu, SP Muthuraman, K Vishwanath, Balu Mahendra, KS Ravikumar, Shankar, AR Murugadoss, Mysskin, Dharani, Cheran, AR Murugadoss, Linguswamy, Silambarasan, Vivek, Srikanth, Prasanna, Sakthi, Sibiraj, Sameera Reddy, Sandhya, Abbas, Sangeetha, Ravi K Chandran, PC Sreeram among many many others were present to witness the grand spectacle.
The leading father-son choreographers Sundaram Master and Prabhudheva master dedicated a special performance for the one & only Kamal Haasan which truly floored the star. Legends SP Balasubramaniam & Hariharan came together to perform a unplugged medley of Kamal Haasan’s evergreen songs. And as a special dedication to the Ulaganayagan, his daughter Shruti Haasan rocked the 7000 strong audience with her soul stirring performance of Kamal Haasan’s favorite song “One is the loneliest number”.
Ulaganayagan’s very close friend Superstar Rajinikanth’s words on Kamal Haasan’s passion for cinema and their early days in cinema was very touching. And in the final moment, Kamal Haasan went down on his knees and thanked his friends, family, colleagues and fans for all their support and undying love.
An event of this grandeur and stature has never been seen before on television. The event would be aired as a two part series on October 12th and 13th at 7pm only on Vijay TV; tune in to watch the event of the millennium.!
