Tamil Cinema’s Golden Boy – Kamal Hassan


Its been a memorable journey from Kalathur Kannamma to the most recently released Dasavatharam, for Tamil Cinema’s Golden boy, Kamal Hassan.

Kamal Hassan debuted in 1959 as a child artiste in Kalathur Kannamma, with his most famous song “Appavum Neeye Ammavum Neeye”. The grown up Kamal did some supporting roles in movies directed by his mentor K. Balachander. He won regional filmfare award for his Malayalam Movie Kanyakumari.

A breakthrough as lead in Tamil Cinema came for Apoorva Raagangal. After that there was no looking back and has been a golden jorney since his first debut. His movies like Moondram Pirai, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Sagara Sangamam, Swathi Muthyam, Punnagai Mannan, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Nayagan are immortal gems.

Kamal Hassan is the most versatile actor willing to experiment in each and every one of his movies. The roles in Apoorva Sagodarargal(as a dwarf), Micheal Madana Kama Rajan(4 roles), Pushpaka Vimanam(No dialogs) and his most recent Dasavatharam(10 roles) took him step by step to the heights of versatility.
