Nagesh End of an era Condolence Gallery

Indian comedy king Krishna Rao Nagesh, known as “India’s Jerry Lewis”, died Saturday at the age of 76, his family said. Nagesh, a diabetic who had been battling ill-health, died in hospital in the southern city of Chennai, the family said.

He was a sought-after actor in the prolific Tamil-language movie industry in the country’s south and appeared in over 1,000 films. His slapstick talents and sense of comic timing earned him the nickname of “India’s Jerry Lewis” after the US comedian.

He also was acclaimed for his portrayal of serious roles.
