Entertainment firm Pyramid Saimira Theatre plans to invest Rs 200 crore in next 18 months to modernise 250 theatres in four states of South India.
The company plans to renovate 250 theatres, which are spread across four southern states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh , the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange .
The company will start the renovation from Jyothi Theatre in Tamil Nadu, which has a seating capacity of 550 seats.
“Till now, we have been focusing on expanding our network and increasing our points of presence. Today, we enjoy significant penetration geographically and our focus will henceforth be on enhancing the quality of experience that we offer our customers and branding,” Pyramid Saimira Group Chairman P S Saminathan said.
