For Bangalore-based Meghna, there couldn’t be a happier moment than when KB visited their home and spoke to her. “He came home two years ago and I was ecstatic,” she gushes. “The fact that he remembered me recently and launched me through his banner makes Krishna Leelai a dream debut for me. It’s all the more meaningful for us because it was KB sir who introduced my parents into Tamil films through Thappu Thalangal.” Dad Sunder Raj adds, “Even in Karnataka, everyone is very happy that KB is introducing my daughter.”
Though Sunder Raj is a Tamilian he acts in Kannada movies and has now entered production too. “I acted in 15 Tamil films while Pramila has done five,” says Sunder Raj who is also the Secretary of the Kannada Film Artiste’s Association.
Meghna is acting opposite Jeevan in the film directed by Selvan. How did the twelfth standard student decide to enter films? “I didn’t know she had this interest,” says Sunder Raj. “Since her grandfather is an ex-service man, and she was in NCC I thought she might choose the defence services.”
About Krishna Leelai she says, “There is something of me in this character.” Meghna avers, “Cinema is serious business in Kollywood. It felt really good to be in front of the camera. I know I am going to love acting here,” she signs off happily.
