Pokkisham – yet another nostalgic journey by Cheran

Completely made in Cheran’s signature style, Pokkisham looks brilliant and as nostalgic and promising as Autograph. The film is certain to achieve the success of Autograph, in fact overtake it.

In a press meet held recently, Cheran stated that the film will be presented through the protagonist’s standpoint, while he flips through an old diary and his memories. When a reporter asked Cheran whether he is trying to repeat the successful formula of Autograph, the director replied that he chose the story because it was close to his heart and not because he wanted to exploit an already tried concept. He also added that it was very difficult to film this story, as it happens in Kolkotta of the 70s and it required immense hard work to replicate the old charm of the city.

Cheran also announced that the film is absolutely ready to hit the screens, but he prefers to release it after the elections.

Danush in Kutty - Movie Posters

Kutty is yet another entertainer from Jawahar and Dhanush

Director Mithran Jawahar and “Ilaya Superstar” Dhanush gave last year’s biggest blockbuster Yaaradi Nee Mohini. A remake of a famous Telugu film (Adavari Mataluku Ardhalu Verule), it did a splendid business in Tamil Nadu. Now, the same team is about to give Kutty and there is no doubt it will turn out to be the year’s biggest blockbuster! The film stars Dhanush and Shriya in the lead, a successful pair whose chemistry in Thiruvilayadal Aarambam was a thorough success.

Coincidentally, Kutty is also a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arya, which made Allu Arvind a household name in Andhra Pradesh. With a story revolving around a very energetic young man who lives life on his own terms, the script of Arya suits Dhanush’s personality. That is the reason Jawahar is quite confident of yet another success.

Recently the Kutty crew completed its Orissa schedule. Now only a few song and scenes remain to be shot. Soon, the dubbing and postproduction will begin. Right from spectacular stunts to good comedy track, exciting onscreen chemistry between the lead pair to punch dialogues, Kutty is a feast not only to Dhanush fans but also to Tamil cinema lovers.

Crew: Director – Mitran Jawahar; music – Devi Sri Prasad; cinematographer – M. Balasubramaniam; editor – Kola Bhaskar; art – M. Prabhakar.

Traveling in a bus, gazing at all the lush green trees and bushes dotting the roads, is fun. More so if you get a seat by the window! Isn’t it? Well, director Rathibala’s upcoming film Madurai to Theni (Vazhi: Andippatti) is fun not less than traveling in a bus seated comfortably in a window seat.

The very thought of a film with a connection with Madurai brings to our minds gory stunts, belligerent people, and trouble galore. But Madurai to Theni is something completely away from that league; the film portrays a beautiful love story of a young couple with no gory violence.

Based on a true incident, the film shows what happens to a young couple who travel from Madurai to Theni in a bus. In fact, this love story is extensively filmed in a bus and villages that are en route the Theni-Madurai stretch.

In the recent press meet, director Rathibala announced that the film is very much realistic, something which today’s cinemagoer prefers and sounded confident about the film’s victory. He further added that the film will be counted along Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu, Paruthiveeran and the likes.

Small-screen-artist-turned-film-hero Arvind Vinoth, who played the lead in Balam, is the film’s hero and beautiful Srithika (of Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu) fame is the heroine. Singamuthu, Muthukalai, Nellai Shiva, “Subramaniapuram” Rasathi and many other seasoned artists form the suppoting cast.

Crew: Director and screenwriter – Rathibala; producer – K. Vimal and S. Janakisonaimuthu; dialogues – Surlipatti Sivaji; music – Sevi.
