Padikkathavan clears censor

The much-awaited Dhanush starrer ‘Padikathavan’, directed by Suraj and presented by Sun Pictures, was censored with a U certificate. Padikathavan is all set for Pongal release and this Dhanush-Tamanna starrer has Vivek in a main role.

Mani Sharma’s music is another major highlight of the film and Padikaathavan is touted to be a racy commercial entertainer with loads of comedy. Padikkadhavan will have loads of laughter in the first half and plenty of action in the second half. Padikkadhavan also stars veteran actors Prathap Pothan, Sayaji Shinde and Suman.

After the success of Dhaam Dhoom, Anees Jeeva is coming out with her next production — Muthirai.

Starring Daniel Balaji, Nithin Sathya, Lakshmi Rai and Manjari Phadnis of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame, the movie is all set to the hit the screen in Februry 2009. Anees says, “Except three songs, we are done with the filming. A part of the film has been shot on a village set.”

Ask her if the movie will be inspired by Jeeva’s style of filmmaking and she says, “His assistant Sreenath has directed the movie. We have attempted something different this time. Bollywood siren Rakhi Sawant has also scorched the screen in a song. I hope the audience likes it.” Anees also says that she is planning to release the audio in a unique way. “Yuvan’s music has come out extremely well. We will launch the audio of the movie this month. Anis, wife of director and producer, the Late Jeeva, is busy with ‘Muthirai’ her next film under the banner of Vision Jeeva Studios. Jeeva’s assistant and favourite Srinath is directing the film for which Anis has penned the story and the screen play.

Young actors Nithin Sathya and Daniel Balaji are the main heroes paired with the new comer Manjari and Lakshmi Rai respectively. The cast include Ponvannan and Saravanan among others. The unit had planned to release the film in February and the audio release function will be a mega bash affair.

The film which was slated for release on Pongal day (Jan14), may be preponed to January 9, to get the benefit of a big solo opening.
